Cafe Margaux: A Taste of Classic French Elegance.

There is something timeless about a great French restaurant, where the atmosphere is inviting, the menu celebrates the classics, and every detail makes dining feel like a special occasion. Cafe Margaux delivers that experience beautifully, combining old-world French charm with an exceptional dining experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Our table, but there isn’t a bad seat in the restaurant.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the tone. Cafe Margaux has an elegant, welcoming ambiance that feels both sophisticated and comfortable, making it an ideal destination for a special occasion dinner, a leisurely lunch, or a memorable meal with friends. Located on the banks of the Seine, overlooking the Eiffel Tower, it is one of the most romantic spots to enjoy classic French fare.

At night, when the Iron Lady lights up and sparkles, the view is spectacular.

The menu is a wonderful tribute to French culinary tradition. For anyone who appreciates classic French cuisine, Cafe Margaux offers the kind of dining experience that celebrates the dishes and flavors that have made French food beloved around the world.

In the mood for traditional onion soup? Classic beef bourguignon? Or perhaps a hearty Beef Chateaubriand in crushed pepper sauce? Their famous Cordon bleu?

This is the place.

I chose the beef bourguignon, which is presented in a copper saucepan (pictured above) and hands down it’s the best I’ve ever had. My husband chose the corn-fed chicken supreme in a tasty morrel sauce. (It was only when we got home to California and he tried to re-create the dish that he discovered how expensive and difficult it is to find morel mushrooms!)

The onion soup comes in a puff-pastry bowl.

But outstanding food and a beautiful setting are only part of the story. What truly elevates a restaurant is its service, and Cafe Margaux shines here. Our server, Cassandra, was warm and attentive and added to our experience. (As with most waiters we encountered in the City of Lights, she was patient with my high school French and spoke flawless English.)

Cafe Margaux is a reminder of why classic French restaurants remain so special. With its inviting ambiance, beautiful view, terrific French menu, and exceptional service, it offers more than just a meal—it delivers a dining experience worth savoring.

Sadly, a photo of the chocolate mousse is not included since it mysteriously disappeared.

It was by far the best meal we had in Paris, and for a city renowned for its cuisine, that’s quite the statement.

Editor’s tip: Cafe Margaux is popular with locals, so make a reservation before you leave for France.
