Trump is once again drawing both cheers and outrage after plans emerged for a temporary UFC-style fighting arena to be erected on the White House lawn ahead of a major summer event that critics say blurs the line between politics, entertainment, and spectacle.

The proposed setup, expected to feature bright lighting, massive video screens, and a championship-style octagon, is reportedly being organized with support from figures close to the president and the UFC world. Supporters have praised the move as “classic Trump,” arguing it reflects his long-standing ties to combat sports and his appeal to younger male voters.

But opponents say the White House grounds are being transformed into what one critic called “a political reality show set.” Historians and ethics experts have also questioned whether the symbolism of staging a fight venue at the executive mansion diminishes the dignity of the presidency.

Adding even more attention to the event is its timing: the arena is scheduled to debut during celebrations surrounding Trump’s 80th birthday — a coincidence that critics online have mocked as anything but accidental. Social media quickly lit up with memes depicting the White House as a pay-per-view venue, while supporters celebrated the idea with slogans calling Trump the “Commander-in-Chief of Combat.”

Trump himself appeared unfazed by the backlash, reportedly telling allies the event would be “huge” and insisting Americans are tired of “boring politicians.” The White House has not released full details on the scale of the installation or how long it will remain on the South Lawn.
