Just one day after the lineup for President Donald Trump’s massive “America 250” anniversary concert was unveiled, several music artists are reportedly already backing out — claiming they had no idea the event would be so directly tied to Trump politically.

The concert, announced as part of the upcoming celebration marking America’s 250th birthday, was initially promoted as a patriotic, bipartisan entertainment event celebrating American culture and music. But critics — and now some performers — say the production quickly revealed itself to be heavily centered around Trump himself, complete with campaign-style branding, pro-Trump imagery, and promotional materials featuring the president prominently.

According to sources close to the event, multiple artists and their management teams were caught off guard after the official launch presentation featured Trump slogans, political messaging, and references to his leadership. Several performers are now attempting to quietly distance themselves from the concert before rehearsals even begin.
“We were told this was an America celebration concert,” one industry insider reportedly said. “A lot of these artists did not sign up to appear at what is now being perceived as a political rally.”
Rapper Young MC (Bust a Move’) was more blunt:
“I HAVE INFORMED MY AGENTS THAT I WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT THE FREEDOM 250 EVENT,” he posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event. And despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, SPIN magazine describes it as Trump-backed. I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.”

The confusion has reportedly sparked panic behind the scenes among organizers scrambling to keep the star-studded lineup intact. Some artists fear backlash from fans who may see participation as an endorsement of Trump’s political movement, while others are concerned about reputational damage in an already polarized entertainment landscape.
Social media erupted almost immediately after the announcement, with critics accusing the event of disguising a political spectacle as a national celebration. Supporters of Trump, however, blasted the artists considering withdrawal, arguing performers should be proud to participate in an event honoring the country’s history.

The “America 250” festivities are expected to be one of the largest national celebrations in modern U.S. history, with concerts, military displays, and televised events planned across the country leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
But if the early fallout surrounding the concert lineup is any indication, organizers may now face a growing challenge: finding entertainers willing to step into America’s increasingly unavoidable political spotlight.
