The New York Times reported Thursday that Trump has been asked to appear before the State Grand jury which has been investigating his hush payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playmate Karen McDougal. (When they ask a defendant to appear it is generally a sign that the individual will be indicted.)

You’ll remember that after the Wall Street Journal reported about the payments, Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen admitted to orchestrating the arrangement just one month before the 2016 election in exchange for Daniels’ silence about the alleged affair.

Cohen later was sentenced to jail for violating campaign finance laws. He has always maintained that Trump told him to make the payment.

If Trump is indicted this will be the first time a former President has faced criminal charges after leaving office.
