The Pentagon announced that a Chinese ‘surveillance’ balloon has violated US air space and international law,” while China continues to maintain that it is a “civilian airship” for research that deviated from course.

“The fact is, we know that it’s a surveillance balloon, and I’m not going to be able to be more specific than that,” said the Pentagon in a statement.

The defense department briefed President Biden but the decision was made not to shoot it down since it could cause ‘dangerous debris.’

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Antony Blinken just postponed his upcoming trip to China in response to the ‘flying of a suspected Chinese spy balloon over the United States.’
