For Msituni, a giraffe calf born with two front legs that bent the wrong way, life would have been very different if the San Diego Zoo Safari Park hadn’t gotten her help.

The Zoo called on Ara Mirzaian, who has fitted braces for everyone from Paralympians to children with scoliosis …but had never made braces for an animal before.

However, Msituni was soon fitted with custom-molded carbon graphite orthotic braces made from cast moldings of the calf’s legs.

It worked. Her joy is palpable.
