In another one of Trump’s ‘Look Over Here!’ distraction moves, the President is attacking Amazon and it’s CEO, Jeff Bezos.
Wednesday Trump Tweeted that Amazon “is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt – many jobs being lost.”
While insinuating that the tech behemoth doesn’t pay taxes, the irony is that we haven’t seen the President’s tax returns. And Amazon has a hefty tax bill — last year it paid $879 million in income taxes.
Trump also added that he thought Bezos was using his ownership of The Washington Post as a “big tax shelter” for Amazon. Fake news, folks. Bezos owns the paper as a personal investment. It’s not an Amazon subsidiary.
