While President Trump continues to claim that the Coronavirus is just like a ‘bad cold or the flu’, the Director-General of WHO warned that the fatality rate is higher than previously thought, killing  3.4% of all patients – making it more than three times deadlier than flu. For comparison purposes, the flu kills less than one percent. (And there are vaccines and treatments for flu of course.)

Panic buying has also resulted in a shortage of supplies of face masks and other protective equipment for health care workers as well as a ‘severe disruption’ to the global supply chain.

Dr. Tedros asked the public to stop hoarding and stockpiling masks as well as encouraging governments to ‘incentivize’ companies that make protective gear so they can ramp up production.
