The founder of the far-right Oath Keepers group, Stewart Rhodes, was sentenced to 18 years in prison this week for his role in a ‘seditious conspiracy to disrupt the electoral count.’ This is the longest jail sentence to date to stem from the violent assault on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“You, sir, present an ongoing threat and peril to this country … and to the very fabric of our democracy,” said U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta at the end of trial.

Interestingly, his ex-wife responded to his lengthy sentence, saying not to pardon him because he may ‘plot again if granted a pardon’ and that he is  ‘dangerous man’ and ‘complete sociopath.’
