On MSNBC, Rachel Maddow reports on a new program at Miami International Airport that uses dogs trained to sniff out Covid infections.

The two dogs — a Belgian Malinois named Cobra and a Dutch shepherd named One Betta — have been trained to sniff out ‘volatile organic compounds’, which are excreted by breath and sweat and produce a scent the dogs can detect, according to a spokesperson for the airport. If a dog thinks someone may have the odor of the virus, that person will be directed to get a rapid COVID-19 test.

Trained at the ‘Global Forensic and Justice Center’ at Florida International University, reportedly the dog’s accuracy rates vary from 96% to 99%.

Is there anything dogs can’t do?
