If Trump was trying to convince people he’s not melting down over Kamala Harris’s poll numbers (she’s ahead), he did a very poor job.

Kicking off with insults (too many to list), he called Kamala Harris ‘barely competent,’ explaining she ‘can’t do a press conference because she’s not smart enough’ — adding for good measure that she’s ‘not as smart’ as Joe Biden — whom he repeatedly called low intelligence in the past.

In a rambling 65-minute long ‘press conference,’ he repeated his usual misleading claims and tried to scare his base by  saying:

“We could literally be on the throes of the Depression. We are in great danger of being in World War III.”

To the reporters assembled, he lectured, “I just hope that the media becomes more diligent, more honest, frankly — because if they’re not going to be honest, it’s going to be much tougher to bring our country back. We have a very, very sick country right now.”

He hit the familiar GOP talking points as he cast Harris as a “radical leftist” and a “loser” who is weak on crime and the border.

Reiterating the old line that migrants who seek asylum here are coming from ‘insane asylums,’ he tried to stir up anti-immigrant sentiment.

Once again, he insulted Jewish Americans, saying Harris has been ‘very bad to Jewish people.’ Note: Harris is married to a Jewish man.

A few more claims to debunk:

1) ‘Nobody was killed on January 6th.’ Fact check: Seven people died that day.

2) If Democrats win ‘everybody’s going to be forced to buy an electric car.’ False.

3) That there was a “peaceful transfer” of power after the last election (See: January 6)

4) That Harris is ‘going to destroy Social Security.’ In fact, it’s Trump who earlier had talked about ‘cutting entitlements,’ though, after the backlash, he walked back his comments. Biden and the Democrats have promised no cuts to Social Security since day one.

The only concrete fact is that Trump agreed to debate Harris on ABC on September 10th.

If you believe that, we have a bridge to sell you.
