Rather than wait for the shutdown to end, President Trump says that he will give his State of the Union address as planned next Tuesday, despite a request from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that he delay the annual speech.
As you remember, Pelosi had told the Prez he should cancel because the Secret Service wouldn’t be able to guarantee his safety because of the shutdown.
In his letter, Trump insisted Wednesday that that Pelosi’s objections were misplaced, writing that ‘there are no security concerns.’
But what exactly can the President say, when the government is in a shutdown — of his own making? Expect the ‘Lie-o-meter’ to spin out of control during his State of the Union.
