Trump tried to defend his controversial church/bible photo opp today, saying ‘Christians think it was a beautiful picture.’

As the backlash mounts against Trump for violently clearing protesters so he could take a stroll to the church in Lafayette Square — only to pose there with a bible — Trump told FOX News:

‘I think it was a beautiful picture. I’ll tell you, I think Christians think it was a beautiful picture.’

Even the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley has apologized for his decision to accompany Trump, saying he ‘should not have been there.’

Not only that but the priest at the church where Trump married Melania also slammed the President:

‘The problem is not that Mr. Trump stood outside a church with [The] Bible in hand,” says the statement by rector James Harlan and other clergy. “The problem is that he used violence to get there and exploited sacred symbols for purely political purposes — and without even the courtesy of getting in touch with the bishop or rector who first heard of this on the news.”
