This is what you’ll be talking about tomorrow around the coffee pot (does anyone even own a water-cooler anymore?) Some people won, some films lost but these are the memorable scenes from the Oscars 2019 awards show.

Olivia Colman beats out Glenn Close won for her role as Queen in ‘The Favourite,’ with the best quote of the night: “This is hilarious. I got an Oscar.”

Lady Gaga weeps while accepting the statue for best original song for “Shallow,” the song from “A Star Is Born,” thanking Bradley Cooper: “There’s not a single person on the planet that could have sang this song with me but you,” Gaga said of Cooper, who also directed the film. “Thank you for believing in us.”

As widely expected, Rami Malek won best actor for “Bohemian Rhapsody.” “The fact that I’m celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we’re longing for stories like this,” Malek said, and then in the sweetest moment of the night, thanked co-star Lucy Boynton, saying ‘ You captured my heart.’

The crowd cheered when ‘Green Book’ was announced as the best picture, the last award of the night, which won over. ‘A Star is Born,’ ‘Roma,’ ‘The Favourite’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

“We made this film with love, we made it with respect, and we made it with tenderness,” producer Jim Burke said.

Director Spike Lee won his first Oscar ever for best adapted screenplay for his film “BlacKkKlansman.” Yes, his first. He didn’t waste his time at the mic either, choosing to address the upcoming election.

“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize, let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing! You know I had to get that in there.”

A film about menstruation won an Oscar for best documentary short subject. “Period. End of sentence.” When was the last time you even saw menstruation alluded to in a movie?

An impassioned Director Rayka Zehtabchi almost had us in tears: “Oh, my God. I’m not crying because I’m on my period or anything. I can’t believe a film about menstruation just won an Oscar,” Zehtabchi said. The filmmakers hope their film will help to end the stigma around a natural occurrence shared by half the worlds’ population.

‘Roma’ won the best foreign language film which was not surprising. What is surprising that this is the first time a Mexican film has taken home an Oscar.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper sang an intimate duet of ‘Shallow’ and we fell in love. Is it just us or is Gaga madly in love with her co-star? You heard it here first, folks.

So the Oscars can still surprise us. What did you think of the three-hour plus, no-host awards show?
