The 91st Academy Awards moved at a brisk pace as various stars introduced each category.

Narrated here and there by the unseen throaty voiced Randy Thomas, the show jumped off to a lively start with Queen singing a medley of its hits led by the super talented Adam Lambert.

Green Book walked off with the best picture award. (And according to Deadline columnist Pete Hammond, director/writer Spike Lee walked out of the theater when the win was announced, he’s been highly critical of the film.) “I thought I was courtside at the (Madison Square) Garden and the refs made a bad call,” Lee said as he tried to exit the theatre.

Speaking of Lee, he won his first competitive Oscar for best adapted screenplay for BlacKkKlansman. (He did win an honorary Oscar in 2016.)

In recent years, the Academy has been criticized for lacking in diversity, but Oscar voters shredded that tradition this year.

Best supporting wins went to Regina King in If Beale Street Could Talk and Mahershala Ali for Green Book, both well deserved.

Hanna Beachler made history as the first African American to win an Oscar for production design for Black Panther.  Bravo Hanna, I’m glad you’re not on oxygen (which is what I thought when I saw that gold chain dangling over the bridge of your nose and over your ears.)

The best actor win went to Rami Malek for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. BTW it looks like he’s tight with his co-star, Lucy Boynton, who got quite the kiss when his win was announced.

Olivia Colman took home the best actress award for her role in The Favourite.  Nobody knows who she is, and you probably missed the movie, but I’m sure It will surface on a streaming service in minutes.  I have to say I’m super shocked Glenn Close didn’t win, her performance in The Wife was amazing, I hope she doesn’t kill a rabbit in anger (see Fatal Attraction.)

It was a big night for Roma’s Alfonso Cuaron. He won for best cinematography, best director, and best foreign film.  I’d have given him an award for slowest film, although Roma is beautiful.

BTW thank you Motion Picture Academy for not relegating best Cinematography and best editing to a commercial break—these folks make or break a movie and a performance.

Enjoyed the duet with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga—is it me or do does she look like she really has the hots for him?  BTW congrats Gaga for winning best song for Shallow. Did anybody notice her 130 carot Tiffany Diamond ring necklace?  I did.

And why was Pharrell Williams wearing camo short pants and white socks—but I digress. (It’s Chanel so maybe in honor of the late Karl Lagerfeld?)

In the middle of it all Brooklyn’s favorite babe, Barbra Streisand appeared, I guess someone gave her permission to leave her house in Malibu, and Melissa McCarthy looked farklempt!

Speaking of McCarthy, she gave out the best costume award dressed in a long train decked with stuffed bunnies including her very own bunny hand puppet (spoofing The Favourite.)  Black Panther took home the Oscar for best costume.

Thanks to all the presenters for wearing their glasses and correctly reading their copy.

In the age of short attention spans, the host-less Oscars may be the new format to follow.  The show clocked in at a comfortable 3 hours and 15 minutes, and my BF didn’t fall asleep this year.
