As feared, after Tampa Bay Buccaneers trounced the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl thousands of ecstatic fans took to the street in Tampa to celebrate, most of them without masks.

Experts had warned earlier that Florida has over 28,000 COVID deaths and 2 million infections — and counting — but it did nothing to deter the wild crowd.

At one point police resorted to using pepper spray on the unruly crowd as they stopped traffic, scaled trees and light poles, and climbed on top of parked cars.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor said she was very disappointed with the partying: “At this point in dealing with COVID-19, there is a level of frustration when you see that.”

In two weeks, COVID infections and deaths will rise because of the unmasked crowds.

Way to celebrate, Tampa.
