The 2022 Golden Globes nominations were announced on Monday morning despite the fact that the ceremony might not even be broadcast this year due to the controversy over the HFPA organization behind the awards. Many celebs have previously said they would boycott the ceremony due to the lack of diversity on the HFPA panel. Still, the star-struck committee went ahead with their nominations.
In a nutshell, The Power Of The Dog and Belfast leads the pack with seven nominations apiece. Kristen Stewart received a Best Actress nomination for her role as Princess Diana in Spencer and Lady Gaga was nominated for her role in the House of Gucci. Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter) and Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) round out the Drama category.
But it was rapper Snoop Dogg who stole the show with his mispronunciation of names, such as when he announced ‘Ben Afflay’ instead of Ben Affleck as Best Supporting Actor nominee for ‘The Tender Bar.’
Snoop then laughs and corrects himself; ‘sorry, Ben Affleck, sorry for that Ben!’
It gets even better.
Snoop notably paused before announcing Ciarán Hinds’ nomination in the same category for ‘Belfast’, saying ‘Ca-ron, no sorry, Karen Hinds, work with me now!’
Can Snoop Dogg host the Oscars next?
