Rupert Murdoch, the right-wing media mogul who built FOX and holds an oversized influence on conservative politics, has announced he will step down at the spry age of 92.
“For my entire professional life, I have been engaged daily with news and ideas, and that will not change,” Murdoch, 92, wrote in a memo to employees. “But the time is right for me to take on different roles, knowing that we have truly talented teams.”
Lachlan, Murdoch’s oldest son, who already works as chief executive of FOX corporation, will become sold chairman of both companies now.
