The death toll continues to rise after Hurricane Helene killed more than 166 people across six states, and hundreds are still missing. 6,300 National Guard troops are on the ground to help get badly needed aid to those stranded by the Hurricane and help in rescue efforts.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to the Southeast on Wednesday to survey the damage wrought by Hurricane Helene.
The president said Tuesday that the cost of the massive storm could stretch into the billions of dollars. “We have to jump start this recovery process,” Biden said. “People are scared to death. This is urgent.”
