As if he weren’t already in enough trouble, Republican Matt Gaetz said at a campaign rally that he wanted to “blow ’em up,” referring to metal detectors at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

“My friend Lauren Boebert from Colorado, they put in metal detectors in front of the House because and a 5-foot-nothing woman, she carries a firearm for her own protection, so, they got triggered for that. I said man, is it, is it ‘tannonite’ or C-4 we want to put in those metal detectors and we blow ’em up,” he later tweeted.

Someone give him a history lesson. Those metal detectors were installed after the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol by a mob of pro-Trump supporters. The attack left five people dead, including a Capitol police officer.

Gaetz is under investigation for alleged sex trafficking.
