Oscar-winning musician Glen Hansard, who found fame after starring in The Commitments and with his band The Frames, has been killed in a motorcycle crash in Dublin. The talented Irishman is perhaps best known for winning an Oscar for the song ‘Falling Slowly ‘, which he wrote with Markéta Irglová, his partner. It featured in the movie Once.
Bruce Springsteen, a good friend who helped him deal with the overwhelming fame following his Oscar win, posted today, saying he was”heartbroken” by the loss of Hansard, describing him as “a great musician, a good friend and a generous and gracious man.”
Ed Sheeran expressed his heartbreak, calling Hansard “an incredible human, an incredible force.’
