Reportedly, he used a stolen checkbook to buy $700 worth of clothes in a small Brazilian store. In 2009 he admitted his crime on a popular social media website in that country, writing “I know I screwed up, but I want to pay.” Yet he says ‘I am not a criminal here — not here or in Brazil or any jurisdiction in the world.’
Despite lying about his work resume, education, his family’s heritage — saying the confusion stems from the fact that he is ‘Jew-ish’ — he is now accused of fraud. He’s now being investigated by federal and state authorities over whether his lies ever broke any laws.
