In a new Wall Street Journal / NBC poll 50 % of US voters said they intended to vote for Biden, compared to only 41% for Trump. Biden now holds a nine-point lead over Trump but as the Democrats cautiously celebrate they warn of the work still to be done.

Biden has a strong 21-point lead among women – with 57 percent of females saying they will vote for him, compared with a measly 36 percent voting for Trump.

And when it comes to black voters, 88 % support Biden compared to Trump’s 8 %.

The WSJ/NBC News poll was conducted between August 9 and 12, so this was prior to Biden announcing Harris as his running mate.
