The “Material Girl” singer debuted brunette locks for the first time in decades and explained it was an homage to her mother, Madonna Louise, who passed away from breast cancer in 1963.
Madonna, who was just five when she lost her mom, wrote over a selfie on her Instagram Story, “I missed my Mother so I channeled her……….
“What happened, you know, when I was [5] years old, it was just the greatest event of my life,” the singer reflected. “It was like a part of my heart was ripped out.”
She continued, “I was forced to grow up fast and understand my mother’s death, to understand the psychological, all things that were going on. It was too much for a child I think.”
