Scientists are scrambling to identify the new variant found in South Africa which has an ‘unusually high number of mutations that could make it more transmissible and result in immune evasion.’

Both Pfizer and BioNTech are racing to see if they can adapt their vaccines to fight this new variant and say they could ship new batches within ‘100 days.’

But the ripple efforts of the discovery of an aggressive mutation is already rattling the world; The European Union and other major destinations are blocking flights from African countries and the global stock market took a hit.
