Well, this was hard to swallow.

The CEO of  Kellogg,  recently cheerily suggested in a TV interview that consumers worried about inflation should eat cereal for dinner to save money.

In the same CNBC interview, CEO Pilnick boasted about a marketing campaign that his company launched urging people to give “chicken the night off” and instead consume bowls of Frosted Flakes and Frosted Mini-Wheats.

The topic arose when the CNBC host Carl Quintanilla questioned him about rising prices at the grocery store.

This reminded us — and many others — of Marie Antoinette’s infamous and heartless  — “let them eat cake” line. Did we mention that this CEO makes 5M a year? We wonder if his family eats Frosted Mini-wheats for dinner.

Quickly, the interview went viral, thanks to a subreddit called /NotTheOnion (sounds like satire from the Onion but is actually real news.)

And on TikTok, one poster wrote ‘“Hey, um, what stage of capitalism is this?’ Watch.
