Under the Attorney General’s order, the Trump Foundation has to shut down, as the judge accuses Trump of using the foundation as his ‘personal checkbook.’ Tuesday in court the judge also blasted the Trump family for using the so-called charity as a ‘ slush fund for Trump’s business interest and political plans.’
In her legal conclusion, the judge, Attorney General Barbar Underwood is going after $2.8 million in restitution plus additional financial penalties. She also wants the court to ban the Trumps from serving on the boards of other New York charities for a period of one year.
‘Our petition detailed a shocking pattern of illegality involving the Trump Foundation – including unlawful coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing, and much more,’ Underwood said in a statement.
