J&J’s CEO Alex Gorsky announced that while their one-shot vaccine — which is already shipping —  is ‘effective against COVID’ the fast-moving company is already working on a booster shot for the Coronavirus variants such as the South Africa and Brazil strains.

‘While we’re encouraged and we’re confident in the current vaccine that we have, you’ve always got to be preparing for the future, and frankly for the unknown,’ said Gorsky.

‘So, we’re doing that as we speak.’

The company has already kicked off trials of its shot for pregnant women and babies, who at the moment are holding off on getting the vaccine until it’s deemed safe.
