A respectful Governor Gavin Newsom debated with Trump when he flew to California, but Trump quickly denied climate change, saying at one point, “It will start getting cooler, you just watch.” That sounds like his familiar refrain about COVID: ‘One day it will just disappear.’
When California Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot countered, “I wish science agreed with you,” the President without hesitation said, “Well, I don’t think science knows.”
Give Newsom props for keeping his anger in check, though we’re sure this is what he wanted to do (see below.)
