The 14-year-old who shot and killed four people at Apalachee High School told law enforcement officers just last year that he would never threaten to shoot up a school “even in a joking manner,” after he was contacted by police who received a tip from the FBI.
We’re also learning that the youth’s father owned hunting rifles but told authorities that his son did not have “unfettered access to them.”
One thing did go right that day. The security system alerted the police, who were on the scene quickly. Activated by pushing a button on their badges, law enforcement was alerted instantly.
