Epicutis Hydrobiome Mist: The Skin-Refreshing Step You’ll Want in Your Gym Bag.

If your skin tends to feel tight, flushed or simply “blah” after a workout, there’s a simple beauty step worth adding to your gym bag: Epicutis Hydrobiome Mist. ($75.)

This lightweight facial mist is designed to do more than simply make your face feel refreshed. It uses a combination of prebiotics, postbiotics and botanical ingredients to help hydrate, calm and support the skin barrier while promoting a healthy skin microbiome.

What makes it different?

The star ingredients include Lactobacillus Ferment, a postbiotic intended to support microbiome balance, and Maltodextrin, a prebiotic that helps nourish beneficial microbes. The formula also contains Hinoki wood oil and activated grape seed extract, which provide calming and antioxidant benefits.

And unlike a heavy serum or cream, the mist feels wonderfully weightless—making it particularly appealing when you want hydration without adding another layer of product.

How to use it

Epicutis recommends shaking the bottle well, then spraying 2–3 times over the face, neck and décolleté. It can be used morning and evening after cleansing or anytime your skin needs a hydration boost. (With the heat wave, we’ve been using it 3x a day to protect and refresh our skin.)

For your regular skincare routine, think of it as a refreshing first layer:

Cleanse → Hydrobiome Mist → Serum → Moisturizer → SPF in the morning

My gym-bag beauty tip

Use it before AND after your workout.

Before heading to the gym, a few spritzes can give skin a quick hydration boost. After exercising, cleanse your face to remove sweat, oil and grime, then mist Hydrobiome Mist over freshly cleansed skin. It’s a particularly nice way to cool and refresh your complexion before applying the rest of your skincare.

And if you’re spending time outdoors, remember that a facial mist is not a substitute for sunscreen—follow with your usual broad-spectrum SPF. We’d recommend the Epicutis Lipid Shield SPF 30, though be careful to reapply often during the day.
