At a campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday night, a group of pro-Palestinian spectators tried to interrupt Kamala Harris by chanting loudly: “We won’t vote for genocide.”

“I am speaking now,” Harris said calmly. When the protesters continued to interrupt Harris’s remarks, she lost her patience.

“‘You know what?’ Harris said firmly.‘If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking.’”

In response, the crowd cheered and started their own chant: “We’re not going back.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that now-famous line. When former Vice President Mike Pence kept interrupting her during a debate, she scolded him with the same line — “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking.”
