Brazilan President Jair Bolsonaro dismissed Covid as a ‘little flu’ and refused to encourage basic protection measures like masks, or bring in enough vaccine for his countrymen.
Now that 600,000 people are dead from the virus, the Brazilian Senate is recommending that Bolsonaro face multiple criminal charges, including crimes against humanity.
The report concluded that the gov was “deliberately exposing” the population to a virus that infected millions. They also recommended that the President be banned from social media for spreading false claims. Remind you of anyone?
With his usual arrogance, Bolsonaro has called the investigation a ‘joke.’
What happens now?
It’s doubtful he would be impeached since he appointed most of the judges in the country and has the military in his pocket.
However, the Senate is planning to send a copy of the report to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which means after Bolsonaro leaves office he could face trial.
