Backlash Over Sen. Ernst’s Flippant ‘We’re All Going To Die’ Comment.

At a town hall, Republican Sen. Joni Ernst replied to an audience member’s concern that individuals who were going to lose coverage in the new GOP cuts could possibly die, the Senator flippantly responded.

“Well, we all are going to die, so, for heaven’s sakes. For heaven’s sakes, folks.”

Instead of later apologizing, the Senator doubled down in a social media post, seemingly filmed at a cemetery:

“I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium understood that, yes, we are all going to perish from this earth,” she said in a video filmed in what appeared to be a cemetery. “So I apologize, and I’m really, really glad that I did not have to bring up the subject of the tooth fairy as well.”
