What we know so far:
- At least 45 people died and 150 were injured, some of them critically, in a stampede at a Jewish religious festival of over 100,000 people.
- Five children have now been confirmed among the dead.
- Police said a crush caused by a ‘human avalanche’ in an overcrowded stairway created a bottleneck.
Israel has vaccinated most of its population so gatherings have been allowed.
