Thursday morning, Trump threatened — again — that the US would strike Iran, then abruptly called them off, saying a peace could be signed as early as this weekend. “Maybe over the weekend, in Europe,” Trump said.
Without specifics, he said it was “in pretty final shape.”
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that Iran’s supreme leader had signed off on a deal, yet Iran’s state broadcaster, quoting the spokesman for the country’s foreign ministry, said that “nothing has been finalized” and sounded surprised at the news.
Remember when earlier this week, Mr. Trump claimed a peace deal was imminent, but hours later, the two countries attacked each other?
