Friday President Biden traveled to Poland to meet with aid workers helping the refugees and to give a pep talk to US forces who are stationed close to the border with Ukraine. He even sat down in the mess hall to share some pizza with the troops.

“What you’re engaged in is much more than just whether or not you can alleviate the pain and suffering of the people in Ukraine. We’re in a new phase, your generation, we’re at an inflection point,” Biden told the troops.

He also thanked humanitarian organizations in Poland for sending aid to Ukraine and assisting refugees.

“I’m here in Poland to see firsthand the humanitarian crisis and, quite frankly, part of my disappointment is that I can’t see it firsthand like I have in other places. They will not let me,” he said. “Understandably, I’m guessing, cross the border and take a look at what’s going on in Ukraine, but I’m eager to hear from you in the humanitarian community about what you see, what you’re doing and where you think we go from here.”
Understandably the risk was too great to allow the President into the war-torn country.
In his powerful address to the aid workers, President Biden emphasized, ‘The humanitarian response is of “enormous consequence,” adding that Ukrainians immediately need vital goods like food, blankets, cash and medicine.
