After two previous launch attempts were called off, the Boeing Starliner successfully lifted off Wednesday with two astronauts on board for the first time. This is the spacecraft’s maiden voyage with humans on board.

The two crew members on board Starliner, Butch Wilmore, the commander, and Suni Williams, the pilot, are seasoned NASA astronauts.

If everything goes according to plan,  they will spend about a day in orbit before docking with the space station on Thursday at 12:15 a.m. They will stay for about a week, allowing for more tests of the spacecraft and its systems.

Williams will also make history as the first woman to fly aboard such a mission.
