The U.S. on Monday reported more than half a MILLION new COVID-19 cases, a new (horrifying) record for the pandemic.

Previously, the one-day record for new cases was 303,000; now we’re at 500,000 new cases a day.

Experts say this is partially due to the highly infectious omicron variant, travel over the holidays, and vaccine holdouts.

And the world on Monday also reported its worst week for COVID cases, hitting 5.9 million.

For whoever still needs to hear this, get the shot.
