Geography is not safe with Trump around.
Reportedly, Trump is planning to announce that the United States will begin referring to the Persian Gulf as the “Arabian Gulf” or “Gulf of Arabia” in what will be seen as an insult to Iran. (This decision is widely seen as a way to curry favor with the Middle East as he tries to drum up Saudi investment in the U.S.)
Never mind that the body of water has been known by his current name since the 16th century.
This follows the President’s controversial decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.’
And let’s not forget his executive order renaming some US landmarks, notably reverting Mount Denali in Alaska to its old name of Mount McKinley, choosing an old President rather than the native name for the peak.
