The FBI raid at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence was called by one agent a ‘hair on fire’ situation, but how did the Government — particularly the National Archives — know Trump had stolen more classified documents from the White House? Remember, he and an attorney signed paperwork testifying that they had turned over ALL the presidential materials.

Some of the docs were found to be from C.I.A., the National Security Agency and the F.B.I. and were marked ‘classified.’

It turns out that when the National Archive was able to retrieve the first batch of material from the President they found more than  300 classified documents and realized that more were missing. They alerted the intelligence committee, which lead to the extraordinary decision by the F.B.I. to execute a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8.

As we know now, the FBI recovered additional documents in the storage area in the basement of Mar-a-Lago, as well as in a container in a closet in Mr. Trump’s office, some marked ‘Top Secret.’ If any of these documents had been stolen, the security of the US would have been threatened.

Meanwhile, Trump continues to claim that the boxes are “mine,” according to three advisers familiar with his comments.
