After  52 years on the road, the hit band The Eagles has announced they are planning one last tour, called — appropriately — ‘The Long Goodbye.’

‘Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages,’ the band said in a statement.

Founded by Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, the Eagles racked up five number-one singles, six number-one albums and six Grammy Awards. (After Glenn Frey passed away, his son, Deacon, took over.)

Perhaps their most famous hit was ‘Hotel California’ though  ‘Take It Easy’ and ‘Witchy Woman’ also made the Top 20.

The tour will kick off their final tour on September 7 in New York City with Steely Dan as the opening act.
