For many people, the thought of going to a Cannabis dispensary can be a bit intimidating. About a year ago, we traveled to one in a seedy district but after seeing the armed guards, we bailed.Sweet Flower, the new breed of dispensary, is the opposite of that — a high-end luxury experience (but with reasonable prices) with trained ‘florists’ to answer any questions. Modeled more like an airy boutique, the Sweet Flower on Melrose is staffed by friendly women so you can ask all those questions you’ve always wanted to.
At the just-opened Melrose location, we interviewed two lovely ‘Florists’ (Med Men calls them’ concierges’) Sunny Martinez and Fawnia Cantu (also the Director of Retail) who clearly love what they do and jumped at the chance to answer my (many) questions and educate me on the uses of cannabis. After 15 minutes with them, you feel more like friends than a customer.
DAILY CANDID NEWS:
What do you recommend a novice start with?
SWEET FLOWER:
We would definitely recommend the CBD product lines and start at a lower dosage. For more information, we stock a ‘Women’s Guide to Cannabis’ which is a handy guide.
Now that cannabis and CBD are acknowledged for their therapeutic pain effects, Sunny and Fawnia showed me transdermal patches for period cramps (genius), a roll-on CBD/ THC for rolling on the temples when a migraine strikes (topicals), gummies to help you sleep (edibles) vapes, pre-rolls, tinctures (usually herbal blends that go under the tongue), and even pot tea. And of course, they have many different strains of Flower (the stuff you smoke.)
Not only has Sweet Flower removed any stigma around cannabis stores, but they’ve also transformed it into a fun shopping experience.
