Alabama is the least vaccinated state in the US, with only 33.9% of residents fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.
So on Thursday, the Governor, a Republican, called out the “the unvaccinated folks” and in a rare statement, blamed the unvaccinated.
“Folks are supposed to have common sense. But it’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down,” Gov. Kay Ivey Ivey told reporters.
The unvaccinated, she continued, are “choosing a horrible lifestyle of self-inflicted pain.”
“We’ve got to get folks to take the shot,” she said, adding that the vaccine is “the greatest weapon we have to fight Covid.”
More politicians need to have the guts to say this.
