As  COVID-19 cases on cruise ships continue to climb, Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal called for the CDC to stop cruise travel.

Take Florida, where many of the affected cruise ships dock, which hit a record-breaking 46,900 cases in one day on Tuesday.

The CDC reported that 88 cruise ships are currently under investigation or observation, with another four being monitored.

“Our warnings have proved sadly prescient and continuously compelling,” Blumenthal wrote. “Time for CDC and cruise lines to protect consumers & again pause—docking their ships.”

At least 4 cruise ships were prohibited from letting passengers disembark due to COVID cases onboard.

It was a mere 6 months ago that the US cruise industry was allowed to start up again.
