Each year, tourists at Yellowstone Park decide to ignore the signs and try and get up close to one of the thermal cones.
More than 20 people have died in “Yellowstone’s 10,000 geothermal pools, geysers, mudpots, steam vents and hot springs.” More still have received burns after walking off the boardwalk, or they slip and get terrible burns from the boiling water.
“Stay on the boardwalks and trails in thermal areas. Hot springs have injured or killed more people in Yellowstone than any other natural feature. Keep your children close and don’t let them run.” – National Park Service.
Now, a Seattle woman has received jail time ( 7 days) and a fine after waltzing off the boardwalk in Yellowstone after she was caught on camera ….and it showed up on social media.
She was arrested and fined. Hopefully, this will set an example for other tourists.
