Scarlett Johansson says Sam Altman’s OpenAI copied ‘Her’ ( from the film where Johansson was the voice of an emotional companion AI) voice after she said no.
The sage goes like this:
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman asked Johansson in September to be the voice of the company’s conversational AI system. She adamantly refused to let them license her voice.
Then, just days before the release of the updated ChatGPT, Altman The same day, Altman posted on X a one-word reference to the 2013 movie “Her.”
“When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference,” Johansson said.
She said OpenAI “reluctantly” agreed to take down the Sky voice after she hired lawyers who wrote Altman letters asking about the process by which the company came up with the voice.
It’s not just the actress who thinks they used her voice for the new AI: The Actors Union backs Scarlett Johansson over claim of voice misuse by OpenAI.
