For the first time, bodycam footage and the hammer used in the attack on Paul Pelosi were shown in court, while David DePape admitted that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was the target (she was in Washington) and that he wanted ‘revenge’ on the Democrats for ‘persecuting Trump.’
‘Everybody there (in Washington) is crazy and corrupt and we need to take them out,’ he said, adding he had ‘other targets’ including Gavin Newsom, Tom Hanks, and Hunter Biden.
Throughout the attack, Paul Pelosi stayed calm and tried to de-escalate the situation.
DePape had with him a backpack that contained a smaller hammer, a uniform costume, a Canadian passport, vitamins, underwear, crayons, scissors, toothbrush, money, water flavor packets, cameras, matches, a cell phone and gloves.
He is being charged for attempted kidnapping, assault and with ‘retaliating against a federal official by threatening or injuring a family member.’
