In keeping with his military service and long public service, Senator John McCain will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol on Friday, an honor only awarded to  31 people.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced the decision of congressional leaders from both parties Sunday, calling McCain “a great American patriot, a statesman who put his country first and enriched this institution through many years of service.”

In other McCain news, the flag at the White House has been lowered to half mast, after Trump had reversed the order Monday morning. Under pressure from both his party and Democrats, Trump grumpily agreed to lower the flag again until the Senator’s funeral Friday.
