Jay Leno, the comedian and former late-night host, helped feed those fighting the Palisades Fire on Monday night. Naturally, he drove up in his own 1941 fire truck.

“We’re cooking for the crew,” the comedian said. “We’ve got a big barbecue going. They’re all getting boxed lunches, so we figured let’s get some hot food.”

“It’s an entire city wiped out. I mean, Pacific Palisades it doesn’t exist and probably won’t exist for next five, six years,” Leno said during his interview as he surveyed the area.

However, Leno said he was encouraged by the “sense of community” he’s witnessed through the city’s relief efforts. “We’ll get through it; we always do,” he added.
